GIBS Hosts a Bösendorfer Concert Grand

Last week GIBS had the unique opportunity to host a Bösendorfer concert grand piano in the school house for three days.  Students in numerous classes had the chance to play this magnificent instrument, which was hand made in the Bösendorfer factory in Wiener Neustadt and worth over 165,000 Euro.  Current GIBS musicians, as well as GIBS alumnus Floris Fortin, Cathi Liendl and GIBS parents honoured the superior craftsmanship of this piano by putting on an outstanding concert last Thursday evening, which featured a range of music from Liszt, Chopin, Dvorak and Debussy to contemporary jazz.  This was all made possible thanks to the Fiedler Piano House ‘Piano Durch der Pause’ video competition which GIBS won last year (winning video by Elisabeth Reinisch and Julia Demarchi from 8i).

Ignaz Bösendorfer established the company in Vienna in 1828.  Bösendorfer pianos are manufactured in Austria and are considered to be among the finest instruments in the world.
