1a’s trip to the Orchestra
Students in class 1a were treated to a free orchestra ‘rehearsal’ concert this past January 8th, featuring the Graz Recreation Orchestra. We should have heard Samuel Marino, an up-and-coming Venezuelan male soprano sing ‘Voi che Sapete’ from Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro and Beethoven’s ‘Ah Perfido’. To our disappointment Mr. Marino was not fit enough to attend the rehearsal (he did go on to perform two concerts that evening). We did get to hear how an orchestra rehearses without its soloist, and luckily, we stayed for the entire rehearsal, and were treated to Schubert’s 3rd symphony in its entirety.
