Geoday 2026

On May the 13th, 2026, 5c had the opportunity to attend an event called “Geoday 2026”, organized by the Institute of Geodesy of the TU Graz. Split up into several groups, the students participated in over 20 activities. They had the chance to try out new technology and learned about how it is applied in the field of geodesy. Short presentations provided the students with insights into different topics, followed by interesting and sometimes challenging tasks that they solved within their groups: discovering caves with Virtual Reality, using high-end satellite navigation devices, steering a robot using cameras that measure proximities, or even solving a murder-case with GIS devices. The various hands-on activities were exciting, and the whole workshop was flawlessly organized by the UBZ, the Umweltbildungszentrum. There was little to no waiting time between the individual stations, and the TU even provided healthy snacks for all the participants. The students of 5c enjoyed the day a lot and now know of one more – very promising – career path they could choose in the future.
