European Day of Languages 2026

On October 13th, three weeks after the official European Day of Languages, GIBS celebrated this day of language diversity with two fun events. Year 8 students taught Year 1 students English in short sessions, featuring games, songs and story telling. Before that however, all 150 students met outside in a big circle for the official welcoming ceremony. At the same time the Year 2 classes had workshops with Year 7 students in the four other languages taught at GIBS: French, Latin, Russian and Spanish. The second part of the European Day of Languages at GIBS is the Language Café in the long break. This is an opportunity for all students to share some words and phrases from their mother tongues with the rest of the GIBS community. It was wonderful to experience the multitude of languages spoken at our school!
