CAS & Choir
Class 7i joined the GIBS Junior Choir for an evening celebrating both live music and the wonderful Creativity, Activity and Service projects that students in 7i have accomplished over the year as part of the IB Programme. Additionally, the Emma Krisper Scholarship was awarded to students Leah Sternad 5b as well as Emilia Thelen 5c. The Junior Choir with the help of narration by Serra Türk 3b took us on a musical journey through spirituals sung as part of the Underground Railroad, culminating in the newly composed ‘Stand Up’ from the the film Harriet, which tells story of Harriet Tubman, one of leaders of the movement. The evening started with year 1 and 2 students playing ‘When the Saints go Marching In’ alongside co-teacher and professional saxophonist Alanah Macpherson, and ended with ‘That’s Amore’ featuring our very own GIBS staff member Mr. Hois as the lead soloist with two students from his graduating class, Ida Krisper 8b and Noelia Gutschi 8b, accompanied by a rhythm section and our string players and woodwinds, including staff members Ms. Bergegere on violin, and our lone brass player, Mr. Singer on F horn.
