GIBS Sings at the Burgarena Finkenstein

At the end of last year, GIBS choir members enjoyed a very special finale – they performed with Italian tenor and Grosse Chance finalist Paolo Scariano, accompanied by the Bel Canto Orchestra conducted by GIBS parent Thomas Platzgummer, in the fabulous Burgarena Finkenstein. The students gained first-hand experience of the life of a professional musician! Rehearsals started before boarding the bus, continued on the bus and again upon arrival at the venue in the ‘tent’ with Paolo and the orchestra. After rehearsing, they enjoyed some pizza by the beautiful Faaker See. Then it was back to the venue for a soundcheck, a change of clothes, and the concert! The students performed ‘Girotondo Intorno al Mondo’, featuring soloists Calypso Convery, Olivia Bills, Olivia Platzgummer and Lucia, Paolo’s own daughter. The choir later joined Paolo for some classic songs: ‘Con Te Partirò’, ‘Funiculi Funicula’, ‘That’s Amore’ and ‘O Sole Mio’. The audience was on its feet for much of the second half – it was a fun and lovely musical experience for all!
