Every year, the student admissions team interviews a large number of students from primary schools throughout Graz and beyond. Following this process, the three new Year 1 classes are formed, each comprising 25 students. For incoming Year 1 students the admission procedure will be as follows:
There is an early admissions policy for GIBS, accepting online applications from 1st-19th December 2026 (s. application form below).
Required documents:
You need to upload a copy/scan of your child’s report cards (Schulnachricht and Jahreszeugnis) for the school year 2025/26. If your child has not attended a primary/elementary school in Austria, please upload the last two report cards from the school(s) they have attended.
IMPORTANT: Please stick to the following file name template: SURNAME-FIRSTNAME-REPORTCARD. The following file formats are accepted: PDF, JPG.
- All students will be invited to an interview on either8th or 9th of January 2027. Students not residing in Austria at that time will be assigned an individual interview date (if necessary, online).
- Bilingual students (English and German) will be interviewed in both languages.
- Primary school grades will be taken into consideration.
- Priority will also be given to those applicants who have siblings currently attending GIBS and fulfil the standard GIBS requirements.
Following the interview, parents will receive written confirmation of acceptance or non-acceptance by February 21st, 2027.

School Tours
Prospective pupils are cordially invited to explore our school on one of eight guided tours in November 2026, each lasting 45 minutes. Tours are conducted separately in German and English, with at least two offered in English. Additional tours in English may be available.
To ensure a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of time for questions, each tour is initially limited to 12 children, each accompanied by a maximum of one parent.

Interessierte Schülerinnen und Schüler sind herzlich eingeladen, unsere Schule bei einer unserer acht Schulführungen im November 2026 kennenzulernen, diese dauern jeweils 45 Minuten. Die Führungen finden getrennt auf Deutsch und Englisch statt. Mindestens zwei Termine werden auf Englisch angeboten; bei Bedarf können weitere englischsprachige Führungen hinzukommen.
Damit genügend Zeit für Fragen bleibt und die Führungen in einer angenehmen Atmosphäre stattfinden können, ist die Teilnehmerzahl zunächst auf 12 Kinder pro Führung begrenzt. Jedes Kind kann von maximal einem Elternteil begleitet werden.
