Learning Objectives

Mathematics

Teaching mathematics well means introducing students to a school of thinking, of argumentation, of interpretation, and of graphic representation, in addition to conveying fundamental calculative, algebraic and geometrical skills.

The goals in our mathematics classes are to

  • Develop and keep the motivation for mathematics and establish a basic trust in one’s own mathematical capabilities
  • Acquire the basic concepts and skills in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus and statistics and apply them in real- life situations
  • Develop “mathematical common sense”: estimate results, see connections and transfer them
  • Investigate in mathematics, enjoy looking for patterns and problem-solving in a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere
  • Deepen mathematical thinking by using exact language and reasoning, generalizing and drawing correct and accurate conclusions
