On November 24th the students of 1c went on their first GIBS biology excursion! We visited the Grottenhof agricultural school where Mrs Hopper, a GIBS mother, guided us through the grounds in crisp, sunny weather.

Mrs Hopper enthusiastically explained the benefits of biological farming, how the cows are looked after, the milking process and how cheese and beef products are produced. We also learned about the difference between straw and hay, about grain harvesting, and about how bread is made.

The highlights were petting the cows, visiting the cheese room where various cheeses ripen to the tune of Gregorian classical music, and of course the Jause...all bio food produced at Grottenhof itself...yum!
