Eustacchio Park Project – Crafts Meets Biology

Eustacchio 6

On Wednesday, October 12th 2A, 2B and 2C spent the day at Eustacchio park in St. Peter.  As part of the cross-curricular project Trees the students had to complete different stations set up in the park. Throughout the day the students worked as both scientists and artists. As scientists they observed trees, hedges and vegetation around a pond, they got to know different types of wood and learned to distinguish between the different layers of the forest.

As artists they got the chance to try out being photographers. The aim was to either capture the beauty of existing scenes in nature or to create pieces of art by collecting leaves and twigs and arranging them individually. Finally the photographic documentation of the whole excursion rounded the whole thing off. All digital photos were edited and finished at school.
